Twas a Hell of a Holiday Show!

Thank You to everyone who took part in Wednesday’s Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret Holiday Show! (Wed. Dec 7 – 9:30p) .
Performers: Samantha Echo (gorgeous music!), Eric Kirchberger (Hysterical! and thanks for jumping in on short notice!), Delilah (splendid!), Bill Chambers (so sharp and witty!) with Dan Ricker (ibid! redux!), Adrian Sexton and Jason Specland (cannot wait for your longer show of “Drinks with George and Martha”), and I must humbly mention Gregor of Berlin (the German version of Rudolf Rednose was excellent, frankly).
Crew and staff: William Glenn in the booth, stage manager extraordinaire Clay West, Salli in the bar, newer HT employee Sarah (surname?) at the door, Debby Bell purveying the treats and minding the safety. Jillian Thomas excelled as host!
Naturalmente, my co-producer, Rob Dub.
Special thanks to Erez Ziv and everyone at Horse Trade Theater Group, who do more than we’ll probably ever know to keep independent theater and unique entertainments alive in NYC.
And of course, YOU, the friends, family and strangers who came out (and the beloved agoraphobes and psychopaths who stayed in and viewed the Live Stream) to watch and enjoy live performing arts! THANK YOU! Hope your holidays are swell, and we’ll see you at the next Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret on WED. JAN. 4!

A Rat Fave Returns This Month!

erickirchbergerheadshotThe witty Eric Kirchberger is jumping on board the show this month! Comedian, actor, and screenwriter, he can be seen on Comedy Central, HBO Comedy and performing live in New York City and throughout the world. He has appeared in the movie LUCKY with Jeffrey Tambor and the film WILD GIRLS GONE with Matt Walsh and Amy Poehler.  Check out Eric making hilariousness out of a pickled heckler.

Little Known Fact #1: Eric’s Italian grandfather grew up living next to the Mussolinis (yes those Mussolinis), and as a kid was in the Camicie Nere, which Eric’s mom once described to him as “like the Cub Scouts, except that they beat up socialists.”

PSEUDO-GERMAN XMAS FOLK TALES
Gregor of Berlin relates the beloved Christmas tale of “Rudolf Rotschnauz” (Rednose), the highly intelligent reindeer who dared to break free from the oppression and brutality of the others in Santa’s Proletarian Workshop.

romulusWe done it! Three (3) (III) years! Thanks to everyone who made last night’s Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret: THIRD Anniversary All-Star SHOW!  so special.

Performers: Julie Lauren Stevens, radiant and glorious as always, Subhah Agarwal, who describes modern life, sex, dating and ethnic bullsh*t like no one else — and is poised to explode in the comedy world; Mary Cyn, temptress and genius, who makes brilliant scary performance art out of burlesque; Bill Chambers (who may be the funniest man in NY), who makes me wish I were Robert Evans; Jeffrey Wetzel like a man possessed with a straitjacket and 50 pounds of stainless-steel chains; and the 500* dancers and singers of Guilty Pleasures Cabaret ( Andrea Elizabeth Palesh, Bridget Bose, Melissa Buriak, Melissa Cammarata, Katarina Lott, Annie Wessendarp, Vincent Ester) — super-sharp, kids! Oh, yes: and me as Gregor of Berlin, reenacting a horrific children’s show at Disney World.

Debby Bell with the atmosphere and the big help. Hosting BIGtime by the face of the show, Jillian Thomas!
And of course, my co-producer (and show videographer/live-streamer — the man in the crowd) Rob Dub. We did it, tovarich!

Special Thanks to Horse Trade Theater Group

What a show last night!

Rat-Poster-USM-Fence-TIME-Deleted-NO-GarbageAgainst some crazy odds, and a few emergencies, we pulled off a terrific show last night! Thanks first to our supersharp talent:
Sung Lee, thrilling beatboxer, who constitutes an entire band all by himself; Liam McEneaney, one of NY’s top comedians, hilarious as always; Galatea Stone, striking polymath dance-burlesquer (thanks for being so pro and such a rockstar at the last minute); Bill Chambers‘ sly and funny tale of catering a bizarrely casual funeral (with Dan Ricker‘s musical accompaniment); Adam Auslander, clown extraordinaire, deftly funny and a joy to watch. I had what was inarguably a great set as Gregor of Berlin.

Our staff and crew: Jillian Thomas‘ hosting was on fire, on point, and very funny! Bill gets a second mention for being an indispensable part of executing the show. Debby Bell, purveyor of salty sweet treats and confections, in her new added role as pre-show introducer and Horse Trade* factotum. Stage manager Clay West took on yet more responsibility as he kept the show fluid; the same goes for sound-and-light maven William Glenn, tops in the biz. Thanks also to Sarah keeping thirsts quenched at the theater bar, and Ari working the door and greeting the public.

Naturally, my co-producer (and show videographer/live-streamer) Rob Dub — you can’t stop the signal!

*Special thanks go to Horse Trade Theater Group and Erez Ziv, who do more than anyone even imagines to support and nurture independent shows, plays, events and festivals, the artful entertainments that live in this town!

And last but MOST, all of YOU who watched the show — THANK YOU. Please join us on Wed. Sept. 7, 9:30pm when we celebrate The Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret‘s THREE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY! It’s gonna be a special one!
