Holy smokes, we sold out AGAIN — and it was a great show AGAIN. That’s the Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret: NYC’s Dance Music Comedy Art Show (8pm!) this past Sat. March 10, and copious Danke Schoens are due.
First, our knock-out performers: the wonderful Mike Milazzo, debuting a NEW song and reprising his greats — always a pleasure to watch and listen to this master. Bill Chambers was truly hilarious telling a grotesque tale of “personal injury.” The Fishnet Follies* featuring Andrea Elizabeth Palesh and Melissa Buriak hit two different flavors of high-energy super-synchronized Tap Dance, and were exciting to behold! (Thanks again for your professionalism — and break a gam in “42nd Street,” Mel B!) Veronica Garza should teach all standups: how to combine dry, smart, warm and VERY funny in her unique voice. (You’re a pleasure!) Tanya Solomon creeped the room out with her horrific Gothic magic act (HINT: it involved disappearing-reappearing SWALLOWED razor blades. Brrrr!)
Then, our excellent crew and staff: The delightful Diana Van Decker Byrne slaking thirsts in the bar, and maintaining and cleaning up the joint; Carter O’brien Ford working the door and keeping the waiting audience crowd occupied; William Glenn doing and rejiggering our sound and light, which is no small feat in this highly-produced show! Last but def. not least, the lovely and patient Tina Lund stepping in last-minute as Stage Manager, another feat that is by no means small with a Sell-Out house. (Thank you!)
Host-with-the-most Jillian Thomas was in fine form: funny, engaging, vibrant! Well done, ma tres cher Canadienne!
Thanks again to my co-producer Rob Dub. One more holcrux, Rob! One more!
Special thanks, as always, to Erez Ziv and the gang at Horse Trade Theater Group aka FRIGID New York, who do Herculean work to keep unique artful entertainments and indie theater like the Rat alive in NYC. Go to their website, see a HT/Frigid show at UNDER St. Mark’s Theatre or the Kraine, and support the good stuff!
Finally, thanks to YOU beautiful FOLKS, who came out, packed the house, roared, laughed, clapped, and had a wonderful time at a live piece of NYC nightlife cabaret variety! We made new friends and saw old ones, met locals and travelers, folks from Pacific Asia and Gainesville, Florida, who all wanted a different kinda night out — and they found it!
See you next month, back at our regular time of 10:30pm on Sat., April 14. THANK YOU ALL!
