Jan. 4: The Hot Science Show!

work-rat-scienceandmontageEnergy and matter coalesce into electric guitars, mics, storytelling, burlesque, amazing art and video, and a hilarious guest who escaped from a German insane asylum. WHAT MADNESS IS THIS??

It’s all part of Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret’s Hot Science Show. Presented in conjunction with Horse Trade Theater Group’s annual STEMFest* Since Sept. 2013, The monthly Rat brings you an evening of performing arts, entertainment, storytelling, music, burlesque — a slice of NYC nightlife like no other.

The hilarious Jamie Cummings performs his “fourth-ranked Elvis impersonator in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.” See it ahead of his brilliant full-length show!
Here’s a review:
“This tribute to those who pay tribute to Elvis is smart, genuine, and has a huge heart. Cummings’ obvious affection for the King and his latter-day cult comes through in every lip curl and hip waggle. Go, laugh, and find yourself saying, ‘Thankyaverymuch.'”

The saucy Foxy Squire brings her take on Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy to our stage!

Tyler Fischer – A Rat fave, Tyler will be playing a co-star role on season 3 of TV Land’s “Younger.” He has over 23 million Vine views and 6 million views on his YouTube videos such as “Pretending to be Humans of NY” and “Pretending to work at Apple.” His videos are regularly featured on The TODAY show, Huffington Post and Elite Daily. OH: he also played the latter role in “Jimmy Fallon Interviews Adolf Hitler.”

LTrain – This band (Gabriel Castellar and Crystalla Gonzalez) will thrill you with their great big rock-blues sounds!

Bill Chambers has reanimated a dead Teddy Ruxpin a la Mary Shelley, brought “Henry Rollins” and “Neil Diamond” and shared a morbidly hilarious tale of NYC apartment hunting / grave robbing… what madness will he wreak this month??

Art, culture, pop, video, striptease, deconstruction: the genius of Katie Macyshyn returns to NYC, and the Rat is thrilled to present her latest masterpiece!

Gregor of Berlin tells of his escape from a Teutonic “insane asylum”…and then there’s that rumor he killed the owner of the doomed Glockenspiel Theater…

…and more to come!

HOSTED by Stand Up Comic/Storyteller, Canadian Import Jillian Thomas(MTV Live, The Toronto Show, The Buzz, Listen Missy, & Much Music’s Love Court). Not to mention the annual East Village Oscar Awards Party and Canada’s longest-running cannabis-cafe comedy-club show!

Twas a Hell of a Holiday Show!

Thank You to everyone who took part in Wednesday’s Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret Holiday Show! (Wed. Dec 7 – 9:30p) .
Performers: Samantha Echo (gorgeous music!), Eric Kirchberger (Hysterical! and thanks for jumping in on short notice!), Delilah (splendid!), Bill Chambers (so sharp and witty!) with Dan Ricker (ibid! redux!), Adrian Sexton and Jason Specland (cannot wait for your longer show of “Drinks with George and Martha”), and I must humbly mention Gregor of Berlin (the German version of Rudolf Rednose was excellent, frankly).
Crew and staff: William Glenn in the booth, stage manager extraordinaire Clay West, Salli in the bar, newer HT employee Sarah (surname?) at the door, Debby Bell purveying the treats and minding the safety. Jillian Thomas excelled as host!
Naturalmente, my co-producer, Rob Dub.
Special thanks to Erez Ziv and everyone at Horse Trade Theater Group, who do more than we’ll probably ever know to keep independent theater and unique entertainments alive in NYC.
And of course, YOU, the friends, family and strangers who came out (and the beloved agoraphobes and psychopaths who stayed in and viewed the Live Stream) to watch and enjoy live performing arts! THANK YOU! Hope your holidays are swell, and we’ll see you at the next Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret on WED. JAN. 4!

A Rat Fave Returns This Month!

erickirchbergerheadshotThe witty Eric Kirchberger is jumping on board the show this month! Comedian, actor, and screenwriter, he can be seen on Comedy Central, HBO Comedy and performing live in New York City and throughout the world. He has appeared in the movie LUCKY with Jeffrey Tambor and the film WILD GIRLS GONE with Matt Walsh and Amy Poehler.  Check out Eric making hilariousness out of a pickled heckler.

Little Known Fact #1: Eric’s Italian grandfather grew up living next to the Mussolinis (yes those Mussolinis), and as a kid was in the Camicie Nere, which Eric’s mom once described to him as “like the Cub Scouts, except that they beat up socialists.”
